Waste Disposal and Recycling Rules and Regulations
All residents/businesses must contract with a locally licensed refuse hauler to dispose of garbage and household trash/recycling. Licensed haulers are:

The Town of East Hampton does not handle recycling of glass, metal, plastics, newspapers, magazines. Each resident must recycle curbside through his or her locally licensed hauler (same as above). Please call hauler for additional instructions.

The Transfer Station site on Bear Swamp Road is open to residents one day per week (Saturday only) between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to accept metal, bulky waste, clean brush and leaves. A sticker must be affixed to the vehicle entering, and may be purchased for $10 each at the Town Clerk's office or the Public Works Department.

Waste motor oil and car batteries for recycling will be accepted by the attendant at the Transfer Station at the above cited hours or at the Public Works Facility, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. No commercial operations. Limit is four (4) gallons per visit. Oil must be brought in one (1) gallon plastic containers with secure tops. Depositor must sign a statement that the product is used motor oil with no contaminants. No antifreeze is accepted.

The Town will continue to ban such items prohibited by the State Department of Environmental Protection, such as hazardous waste and containers, radioactive materials and chemical storage drums.

Stumps, demolition material and scrap construction materials must be hauled to a DEP-licensed demolition site. All transportation and tipping fees are the responsibility of the party requiring the service.
