Call to Order:
Rich Norkun called the May 21, 2010 meeting of the Navigation Ordinance Task Force to order.
Approval of the Minutes:
John Tuttle motioned to accept the minutes of the April 23, 2010 meeting. Andy Tierney seconded. All approved.
Discussion of DEP Recommendations:
The Task Force discussed recommending operational constraints in the form of “quiet hours.” After discussing, the Task Force had a show of hands and did not have a consensus on quiet hours. Five members were not in favor of quiet hours. Two members were in favor of quiet hours. (5-2)
The Task Force will proceed in the direction of signage and education and will request additional funding for increased enforcement. There will also be a recommendation to make some minor changes to the existing ordinance.
The Task Force made changes to the draft of the sign based upon input and recommended ordinance changes. Ruth will get a budget on this for an Agenda Report.
Continued Review of Existing Navigation Ordinance:
The Task Force went over the noted changes in the ordinance. Ruth will type up the final recommendations for Council’s approval.
There is one more meeting scheduled. Ruth will put together a draft of the Town Council Agenda Report with all necessary budgets and documents. The Task Force will review and finalize this Agenda Report at the next Task Force meeting and then forward to the Town Council for their next meeting.
Jim Dicaprio motioned to adjourn the meeting. Rich Norkun seconded the motion. All approved.
